Head of Operational Resilience & Continuity – First Line Risk Team
Overview
The role is responsible for embedding and overseeing the operational resilience and continuity framework across the organization. It works closely with business functions to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations and effective management of operational risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the operational resilience and continuity function, serving as the primary point of contact for implementation and delivery of the framework and plan.
- Run day‑to‑day operations of the resilience team, including service and resource mapping, control performance monitoring, and incident lessons‑learning.
- Map key services and underlying business processes to people, facilities, technology, and third‑party resources.
- Define and manage impact tolerances in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Plan, execute, and monitor resilience testing and scenarios.
- Develop and maintain an operational policy that establishes processes, procedures, and controls required to meet regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular self‑assessments, threat assessments, and scenario analyses to identify risks to business continuity.
- Collaborate with the Operational Risk team to identify and manage continuity risks, ensuring synergies with existing risk programs.
- Support the execution of crisis management and business continuity programs.
- Challenge the business to drive ownership and accountability of continuity deliverables.
- Lead training, awareness, and major event preparedness initiatives.
- Provide reports and inputs to governance and risk committees, board, executive management, and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong experience in technology and/or information security risk roles, including implementation of control frameworks.
- Prior operational resilience experience, ideally within financial services or a technology‑focused organization.
- Demonstrated ability to present at board level and influence cross‑organizational stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical details to non‑technical audiences.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience; Master’s degree preferred in Business, Technology, Finance, or organisational resilience.
- Experience in business continuity or operational resilience within the financial industry.
- Familiarity with relevant industry regulations.
- Leadership experience in multiple roles with a sense of urgency and the capacity to perform under pressure.
- Proven ability to prioritize and manage competing interests in a dynamic environment.
