Derbyshire Library Service is looking for a qualified librarian to join the Stock Team who will assist with the acquisition, cataloguing and management of stock for Derbyshire’s libraries, mobiles and home library services.
The successful applicant will help oversee the selection, ordering and allocation of resources as well as monitoring expenditure. They will also take on responsibility for cataloguing stock in a variety of formats and help to market and promote collections. This means knowledge of bibliographic tools and experience of classifying and cataloguing stock is essential.
The successful candidate will also contribute to the maintenance of high quality customer‑focused services by providing access to collections that reflect the needs of communities and an online catalogue that ensures resources are readily identifiable and accessible. They should have experience of dealing with enquiries and be able to demonstrate good research and customer care skills as well as the ability to develop and deliver training for customers and staff.
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team on service development projects and local, regional and national initiatives with colleagues and partners will also be required.
The postholder will also need to be able to use their own insights and performance data to shape delivery, meet service targets and to identify and improvements and efficiencies across different service areas. They should be knowledgeable about new and innovative ways of delivering services, both physical and digital, and will be expected to contribute to the development of service plans.
The post holder will be based at the Stock Unit, County Hall, Matlock but will also be expected to work at other locations across the county so the ability to travel is essential.
