Infrastructure Engineer – Linux

Salary: £41,000 – 48,000 per year

Requirements

• We require active SC Clearance, or eligibility to obtain SC Clearance as a UK national with at least 5 years of consecutive residency.
• We require strong technical experience with Red Hat Linux (RHEL) administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• We require advanced proficiency using the Linux command line interface (CLI).
• We require proven ability to write and debug Bash/Shell scripts for automation and system management.
• We require practical experience managing virtual machines and host infrastructure in a KVM environment.
• We require experience using Red Hat Satellite for lifecycle management, patching, and provisioning.
• We require experience writing and executing Ansible playbooks for infrastructure automation and configuration management.

Responsibilities

• We support, maintain, and automate the critical infrastructure underpinning the HOB programme.
• We work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of our Red Hat Linux and virtualized environments.
• We manage, maintain, and optimize enterprise Red Hat Linux operating systems.
• We configure and manage virtualized environments using KVM and modern virtualization technologies.
• We use Ansible to automate routine system tasks, deployments, and configuration management.
• We oversee system deployment, patching, and compliance using Red Hat Satellite.
• We develop and maintain Shell scripts to streamline operational processes and system monitoring.
• We confidently navigate, troubleshoot, and manage systems via the command line interface.
• We work alongside security, development, and delivery teams to ensure alignment.
