Specialist (Band 6) Occupational Therapist – North Edinburgh Older People’s Community Mental Health Team
About the Role
This is a full‑time, permanent position within a multidisciplinary team that supports adults aged 65 and over who have a diagnosed mental health problem, live with dementia, or are questioning a dementia diagnosis. The role involves assessment, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation to help clients maintain independence and remain at home, as well as providing advice and support to natural support networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive OT assessments for older adults with mental health needs.
- Design and deliver therapeutic interventions and rehabilitation programmes tailored to each client.
- Advise families and carers, empowering natural support networks.
- Collaborate with other health professionals to influence OT contribution within the OPMH and EHSCP framework.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date clinical documentation.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Registered Occupational Therapist with a valid PVG Scheme membership/record for the required regulatory group (child and/or adult). If not a current PVG member, successful applicants must have an application made to Disclosure Scotland and a satisfactory record before starting.
- Demonstrated experience in older‑adult or dementia care setting, preferably within a community mental health environment.
- Commitment to working with adults over 65 and a passion for the OT profession.
- Flexibility to accommodate secondments, job share, or other adjustments.
