We are seeking an experienced, values‑driven medical leader to join us as Interim Deputy Chief Medical Officer for a 6‑month period. This is a focused opportunity to deliver meaningful, measurable improvement through collaborative, compassionate and accountable leadership. You will provide targeted professional leadership to maintain momentum across clinical standards, performance and priority improvement work, ensuring high‑quality care within agreed financial and operational frameworks. The role also involves managing capability and conduct performances.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will focus on a small number of priority areas, which may include:
- Providing senior clinical input into priority performance or quality issues
- Supporting the management of professional standards, including conduct and capability cases
- Supporting delivery of key improvement programmes where additional leadership capacity is required
- Deputising for the Acting Chief Medical Officer on an ad hoc basis
- Providing visible and credible clinical leadership across the organisation

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Current registration and licence to practise
- Success in a previous management role (Divisional / Clinical Director, Associate Medical Director, Clinical Lead or equivalent)
- Working knowledge of professional and occupational regulation (GMC Good Medical Practice 2024; MHPS), Revalidation
- Good working relationships and credibility with professional colleagues and relevant stakeholders
- Uses evidence to make improvements
- NHS quality improvement programmes (e.g. GIRFT; Model Hospital; NHS Impact)
- Previous experience of leading professional and occupational regulation requirements including GMC Good Medical Practice 2024; MHPS, Revalidation and Job Planning
