Macmillan Information and Support Manager

An exciting job-share opportunity has arisen to work within the Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centre. The successful post holder will be required to manage and deliver the comprehensive cancer information and support service within Kettering NHS Foundation Trust for people affected by cancer including patients, carers’ family and friends, as well as health and social care professionals.
The successful candidate will be adaptable and flexible with proven leadership experience working both autonomously as well as part of a friendly and supportive team of staff and volunteers.
Integral to this role is engagement with service users and key stakeholders across the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire as well as the Northamptonshire Integrated Care system, in order to improve cancer information and support for all.
Please be aware there will be a presentation at interview. Please present a 10 minute power‑point presentation on the role of the information and support service manager and how it supports patients through their cancer pathway.
Main duties of the job
- Day to day responsibility for the running of the cancer information service and budget and working as a clinical cancer information specialist providing a direct service to people affected by cancer (PABC).
- Work flexibly as an autonomous practitioner being visible and accessible for all members of the MDTs as well as providing a flexible drop‑in service for PABC.
- Have responsibility for facilitating and providing visible evidence of user feedback and peer review from the Cancer Information service in order to maintain standards and implement improvements.
- Supporting, developing and implementing cancer information improvement and initiatives for the KGH local service and across Northamptonshire.
- To recruit and line‑manage Macmillan Cancer Support workers.
- To recruit and train volunteers within the guidelines of Macmillan and KGH Trust.
- Act as a specialist cancer information resource for the training and education of HCPs and volunteers, and seek to be involved in professional network and national initiatives/policies and to demonstrate, promote and share evidence based practice and research in relation to information provisions.
- Actively seek patient and public involvement (PPI), to lead or contribute towards the directorates PPI agenda including patient user groups.

Education, Training and Qualifications
- Advanced Communication Skills or willingness to undertake.
- Level 2 Psychological Support or willingness to undertake.
- Registered Nurse/Allied Healthcare Professional or equivalent level of education or training.

- Broad knowledge of cancer and its management.
- Considerable experience in caring for cancer patients.
