Cloud Engineer (Azure) – Hybrid
Hybrid working – 1 day every 3 months in the office. Core technologies: Azure networking, security controls, AKS, Event Hubs; IaC with Terraform; scripting with Bash; familiarity with PHP, .NET, Python, PowerShell, or Java; and use of Azure DevOps.
About the Role
We’re seeking a highly skilled Azure Cloud Engineer to join a project-focused delivery team building the infrastructure behind our high-volume, high-stakes SaaS platforms. You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering Azure cloud infrastructure using modern IaC practices, working closely with architects and developers to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned to best‑practice design patterns. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on precision, automation, and collaboration and wants to help set and uphold exceptional engineering standards across a growing team.
What You’ll Be Doing
Azure Cloud Infrastructure Delivery & Automation
- Develop and maintain infrastructure and application deployment pipelines
- Deploy new and updated infrastructure in line with reference architectures
- Deliver high‑quality, reliable infrastructure aligned to project timelines
- Use Infrastructure as Code to ensure consistency, repeatability, and scalability
Continuous Improvement
- Refine and enhance deployment processes to improve speed, quality, and reliability
- Drive best practices in automation, monitoring, and operational excellence
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of engineering standards and tooling
Project Collaboration
- Work closely with architects, developers, and delivery teams on project outcomes
- Ensure alignment with wider Infrastructure Engineering standards and approaches
- Take ownership of delivery outcomes, even in complex or ambiguous environments
Support & Operations
- Provide 4th line support for infrastructure‑related issues
- Participate in an on‑call rota to maintain service reliability
- Diagnose and resolve complex problems across distributed systems
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
- Produce clear, high‑quality technical documentation
- Mentor and support the development of other engineers
- Share best practices and contribute to a collaborative team culture
What We’re Looking For
Technical Expertise
- Extensive experience within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, including:
- Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Application Gateway
- API Management (APIM)
- PostgreSQL and SQL Server
- Service Bus and diagnostics/monitoring services
- Strong understanding of security, IAM, networking, and database architecture; distributed systems and cloud‑native application support
- Proven expertise in Azure DevOps, Helm Charts, Docker, Terraform, Bash, Packer, and Ansible
