Senior Backend Software Engineer

Salary

£90,000 – 100,000 per year

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience developing backend software using Python, alongside experience with languages such as Java, Go, Kotlin, C++ or similar
• Commercial experience with TypeScript
• Experience building and operating applications within AWS/GCP environments
• Strong understanding of scalable system design and distributed systems
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern engineering practices
• Experience building resilient, cloud‑native, enterprise‑grade applications

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of key platform components from design through to deployment, optimisation and ongoing support
• Help design, build and scale the backend services that power our AI‑driven platform
• Solve complex engineering challenges around scalability, performance and reliability
• Design distributed systems and build resilient enterprise‑grade software
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering leadership to shape technical roadmaps and influence architecture decisions
• Contribute to the long‑term evolution of the platform
• Deliver high‑quality, resilient software and improve engineering processes and tooling
• Drive best practice across development, testing, deployment and monitoring
