About the role

This is a pivotal leadership role at the heart of CF’s Life Sciences practice. Accountable to the Managing Partner, you will orchestrate the Business Development efforts of the practice shaping strategy, converting it into annual goals and quarterly OKRs, and coordinating delivery across a multidisciplinary team. You will drive our marketing and thought leadership activity, own end-to-end procurement processes, and maintain the management information standards that keep the practice performing. Collaboration is key: you’ll work closely with the wider life sciences leadership team and Business Development Managers across the business to ensure our resources are focused where they matter most.

This role offers an extraordinary opportunity for professional growth within a supportive development environment. You will gain invaluable experiences, unlocking your potential to reach new heights in your career journey.

Responsibilities

Strategic Business Planning and Management

Work with senior leadership to develop annual and quarterly plans, identify emerging trends, manage the end-to-end business development pipeline, and lead cross-functional teams to deliver against business goals.

Marketing and Thought Leadership

Collaborate with the marketing team to produce compelling content, white papers and case studies, while monitoring industry trends and developing co-branded initiatives with external partners.

Proposal Development and Bid Management

Lead proposition and proposal development tailored to client needs, ensuring compliance with pricing, resourcing and procurement requirements throughout the bid process.

Team Leadership and Development

Mentor junior team members, delegate effectively, manage competing priorities, and lead key internal meetings including pipeline reviews and steering groups.

Continuous Improvement

Maintain a repository of business development materials, identify tools to improve bid efficiency, and embed lessons learned into the end-to-end process.

Networking

Build relationships with potential partners and client procurement teams, and attend relevant conferences to grow the company’s network and pipeline.

Commercial Discipline

Maintain a strong understanding of pricing and margin expectations, track pipeline and revenue forecasts, flag commercial risks early, and foster a culture of commercial accountability within the practice.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, candidates will demonstrate a combination of strong commercial awareness, excellent organisational ability and a genuine interest in healthcare. We are looking for the following:

  • In-depth knowledge of the Life Sciences industry and experience within strategy/management consulting.
  • Strong business development acumen, including identifying new opportunities and contributing to organisational growth.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish and nurture client relationships.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with industry trends and best practices.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and adapting quickly when priorities change.
  • Educated to a degree level (or equivalent experience).

Flexible Working

Our default is to work in person with our clients, but we also support remote working. Team members can work from home one day per week as standard, and we offer an additional 44 remote working days per year. This allows you to work from home up to two days per week — subject to client needs — or use your allowance in blocks, depending on what works best for you. Office hours are flexible within our core hours of 10am–4pm.
