What we are looking for in a Headteacher
- Provides clear educational vision and strategic leadership, securing high-quality provision, improved outcomes and a positive environment for learning while building on the school’s inclusive ethos, commitment to wellbeing, relational practice, nurture and community partnership.
- Leads sustained school improvement through effective self-evaluation, quality assurance and improvement planning, identifying priorities clearly and securing measurable impact through curriculum development, high-quality teaching and engaging learning experiences that reflect Curriculum for Wales.
- Promotes inclusion, wellbeing and high expectations, ensuring that all learners, including pupils with additional learning needs, are supported to achieve the best that they can within a relational culture where pupils and staff feel safe, valued, respected and able to thrive.
- Develops people and builds leadership capacity by supporting professional learning, managing staff performance effectively and creating a culture in which staff are motivated, supported and challenged to improve through positive relational practice and teamwork.
- Works effectively with governors, families and partners, strengthening relationships with parents, carers, schools, agencies and community partners so that the school remains outward-facing, collaborative and responsive to the needs of its community.
- Leads with resilience, integrity and sound judgement, communicating clearly, making effective decisions, managing resources well and taking responsibility for safeguarding and the wellbeing of pupils and staff.
