Job Description Purpose of the Role

Focused on delivering individual projects, ensuring completion within scope, time, and budget with a more immediate focus.

Role Summary

Project Manager leading Project GAIA, a strategic initiative to transfer the bank’s acquiring and gateway services to Brookfield.

Manage key workstreams focused on product enhancements, service uplift, and the delivery of new capabilities. Oversee the full change lifecycle from planning to implementation, partner closely with senior stakeholders, drive delivery at pace, manage dependencies and risks, and ensure business and regulatory outcomes are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and deliver workstreams focused on product enhancements, service uplift, and delivery of new capabilities.
  • Oversee the full change lifecycle from planning through to implementation.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to drive delivery at pace, manage dependencies and risks.
  • Ensure business and regulatory outcomes are met.
  • Act as an advisor and influence decision‑making, contribute to policy development, and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven project management experience delivering complex initiatives within large programmes and cross‑functional environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across business, technology, and operational teams.
  • Good influencing and communication skills, able to align stakeholders and support delivery of shared business objectives.
  • Sound knowledge of acquiring and gateway products, including payments acceptance, regulatory requirements, and licensing considerations.
  • Experience supporting and delivering change initiatives, including product enhancements, process improvements, and operational change.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify process inefficiencies and implement practical solutions to improve operational effectiveness and customer outcomes.
  • Solid analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to assess issues, identify opportunities, and drive resolution.

Desirable Skills

  • PRINCE2 qualification or an equivalent project management certification.
  • Experience working within payments, acquiring, or a regulated financial services environment.
  • Understanding of governance, risk, and compliance requirements relevant to payments products and services.

Location

The role can be based in London, Northampton, or Manchester.

Barclays’ payments acceptance business provides critical infrastructure to the UK economy, processing billions of pounds of payments annually for both small businesses and corporate clients. In April 2025, a long‑term partnership with Brookfield Asset Management was announced to grow and transform the payments acceptance business by broadening services and enhancing the client experience.
