Django Developer (SC Cleared)
Hybrid (Glasgow – 1 day per week). Contract until March 2027, with potential extension. Inside IR35.
Overview
Provide hands‑on technical leadership for the design, build, productionisation and ongoing operation of secure Django‑based applications and supporting infrastructure. Establish development processes, coding standards, API standards, security approach, RBAC model and application architecture needed for repeatable delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, development and deployment of secure Django applications and associated infrastructure in Azure.
- Define and embed Django development processes, coding standards, API standards, review practices and secure engineering patterns.
- Design and guide implementation of RBAC, permissions, authentication, authorisation and secure application access models.
- Set up and improve CI/CD pipelines, automated quality controls, infrastructure‑as‑code and deployment practices.
- Establish repeatable automated testing approaches across unit, integration, functional and regression testing.
- Collaborate with cloud architecture, security, DevOps, delivery and business stakeholders to ensure solutions meet internal standards.
- Provide hands‑on technical leadership, coaching and guidance to other Django developers through design, build, test, deployment and production support.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience developing, deploying and productionising Django applications in live environments.
- Strong hands‑on knowledge of Python, Django, Django templates, API development and secure web application architecture.
- Experience defining engineering standards, development processes, API standards and secure coding practices.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, infrastructure‑as‑code and automated testing approaches.
- Solid understanding of security best practices, RBAC, data protection and operational readiness in cloud environments.
- Experience with end‑to‑end software development lifecycle and agile delivery practices.
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Active SC clearance is essential (must have worked on a UK government project within the last 12 months).
Contract Details
- Day rate: £700‑£800 (Inside IR35)
- Contract until March2027, with potential extension.
- Contract until end of September2026, with likely extension.
- Hybrid working – 1 day per week on‑site in Glasgow.
- Salary range: £60,000 – £80,000 per year.
