What you’ll do
As a Community Ranger, your primary responsibilities will include maintaining and facilitating access to recreation facilities for the community, engaging with opportunities to generate income, answering community enquiries, strengthening community connections and communications, and building meaningful relationships and volunteer involvement to enhance the overall visitor experience.
Where you’ll work
The West England Forest District team are custodians of 38,500 ha of the Nation’s Forests in the west and south‑west of England. The role is based in the Forest of Dean and Herefordshire, working from the Forestry England Office in Coleford, within the Forest of Dean beat teams East and West, supporting the Beat Forester and the wider team of supervisors, rangers, craftsperson and wardens.

You will be requested to write a 200‑word statement on your relevant experience and career history, and a personal statement of no more than 500 words. These will be assessed during sifting. You will also be assessed on experience, behaviours and strength‑based questions during the interview.
