As a Junior Content Designer, you will join the growing Digital Excellence community and work collaboratively to design inclusive, user‑centered content for public and private sector clients.
Responsibilities
- Work with clients to create content that meets user and business needs
- Design content collaboratively with other content designers, UX designers, and researchers
- Use user research and accessibility guidelines to translate user stories into evidence‑based content
- Develop a data‑driven approach to content creation
- Make complex language and processes clear and accessible
- Contribute to the content community through critiques and learning sessions
- Improve internal processes
- Advocate for accessible and inclusive design
- Learn to work in a fast‑paced Agile environment using iterative methods
Qualifications
- Keen interest in user‑centered design and collaborative work
- Professional experience in content creation, style guides, and web writing
- Experience writing inclusive content in plain English
- Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills
- Awareness of GDS service standards and design principles
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG)
- Experience working with a user‑centered design team
Preferred
- Experience designing content in local government or higher education
- Experience with tools such as Miro, Mural, Teams, PowerPoint
- SC (Security Check) clearance
