Job Description:

Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation

Director of Growth and Development

Location: London (with UK and international travel)

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is entering one of the most ambitious periods in its history.

Seventy years after it was founded, more than one million young people take part in the Award every year across over 120 countries and territories. Now, our ambition is to reach four million participants by 2030, extending the life‑changing impact of the Award to millions more young people around the world.

To help achieve this, they have created a new senior leadership role: Director of Growth and Development.

This is not a traditional growth role. It is about enabling growth at scale.

Leading a newly established department, you will develop the capability, capacity and resilience of their global network of National Award Operators, helping them grow sustainably while maintaining the quality and integrity that has made the Award one of the world’s most respected non‑formal education frameworks.

Working across a diverse international network, you will identify where the greatest opportunities for growth exist and develop tailored support that helps organisations strengthen their leadership, strategy, governance, financial sustainability and operational capability. You will oversee grants and partnerships that unlock growth, use data and insight to inform investment decisions, and build a culture of learning, collaboration and continuous improvement across the Award family.

We’re looking for a strategic and operational leader with a track record of helping organisations grow and thrive. Your experience could come from consultancy, organisational development, international development, the charity sector, social enterprise, education, membership organisations or another complex organisation. What matters most is your ability to translate ambitious strategy into practical delivery, build organisational capability, and inspire others to achieve lasting change.

You will be comfortable working across cultures and geographies, and equally confident analysing data, shaping strategy and building trusted relationships with senior leaders. Most importantly, you will be motivated by the opportunity to help millions more young people develop the skills, confidence and resilience they need to become WorldReady.

This is a rare opportunity to shape a newly created function, influence a global movement and play a defining role in delivering one of the most ambitious growth strategies in international youth development.
