Location: Standish areaHours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm (plus weekly staff training on Wednesday)Contract: Full-time

About Us

The school is an independent specialist and Alternative Provision provider supporting children and young people who require a smaller, relational, and highly supportive learning environment. They provide both Specialist Placements and Alternative Provision Placements across KS3 and KS4, combining academic rigour with vocational opportunity.

The Role

We are seeking a passionate, resilient, and highly motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a dynamic team. This is a hands‑on role where no two days are the same. You will play a pivotal part in both supporting classroom teachers and leading small group or 1-to-1 learning interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver tailored learning activities to students across KS3 and KS4, accommodating diverse emotional, social, and academic needs.
  • Cover classes in the absence of the teacher, ensuring a consistent, structured, and relational environment.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to help them overcome barriers to learning and engage with both academic and vocational pathways.
  • Collaborate with the wider staff team to implement positive behaviour strategies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualifications: HLTA status (or equivalent experience/qualifications).
  • Experience: Proven track record of working with children or young people, ideally within an alternative provision, specialist placement, or SEMH setting.
  • Skills: Exceptional communication, patience, and the ability to balance academic expectations with a highly supportive, nurturing approach.
  • Commitment: Reliable team player dedicated to continuous professional development, including attendance at mandatory Wednesday evening staff training sessions.
