Level 3 Teaching Assistant – Woodhouses VC Primary School

Location: Woodhouses VC Primary School, Ashton Road, Woodhouses, Failsworth, M35 9WL.

Salary: £28,598 – £31,022 (full time full year equivalent).

Actual Salary (Grade 4): £21,127 – £22,918 per annum.

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday – Term Time.

Working Hours: 32.5 per week term time + 5 days.

Contract: Fixed Term (12 months).

Closing Date: Monday 6 July 2026 – 9am.

The Governing Body wishes to appoint a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join this happy, nurturing school family to support our children in their learning and in developing our young people into independent learners, who possess the knowledge and skills to engage positively with the world around them.

Responsibilities

As a level 3 teaching assistant, you will support classroom teachers in delivering the curriculum to primary‑level pupils, ensuring all children receive appropriate support, including interventions for those working below age expectations and phonics support.

You will assist with personal care as required, foster good relationships with parents, and work collaboratively as part of a team to promote social and emotional well‑being of the children.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Recent relevant experience of classroom support at primary level.
  • Good understanding of interventions to support children working below age expectations, including phonics interventions.
  • Good understanding of children who have social and emotional issues.
  • Positive, calm and supportive nature and willingness to support personal care.
  • Knowledge and understanding of how children develop communication, interaction and language skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and self‑motivated.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Ability to foster good relationships with parents.
