Location
We currently have two opportunities for Product & Process Technicians to join our Bio-Resource department at the Upper Brighouse WwTW site. Applicants should live within a reasonable commuting distance of Huddersfield or Halifax.
Work type
Permanent. Works 37 hours per week on a 7-day working pattern with weekend rota and out-of-hours emergency cover. Working weekends is part of the role, with compensatory rest days.
Where you fit in
As a Product & Process Technician, you will safely undertake operational and maintenance activities associated with the daily running of wastewater treatment works. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting daily routine manual and technical tasks, routine operations, instrument calibration & basic maintenance checks.
- Managing workload based on available resources.
- Maintaining a safe work environment; implementing Health and Safety procedures.
- Managing contractors via Control of Work, inducting visitors and mitigating hazards.
- Using process information to optimise site processes and improve efficiency, minimising operational costs and meeting performance targets.
What skills & qualifications you will need
- Ability to learn technical processes, problem solve, and drive process improvements within complex wastewater treatment systems.
- Previous knowledge/experience in carrying out technical and manual tasks, ideally in an operational, process-based industry.
- Prioritise own workload, proactive ownership of site issues, teamwork, and proficiency with various IT systems.
- Capable of manual handling, working at heights and handling raw sewerage.
- Must be able to work within confined spaces and pass strict medical criteria (BMI, vision, blood pressure, hearing, Spirometry). Must hold a full valid driving licence with no more than 6 points.
