We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Pastoral Manager to join our thriving and inclusive secondary school in Blackburn from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the wellbeing, attendance, behaviour and personal development of our students.

The Role

As a Pastoral Manager, you will work closely with students, families, teaching staff and external agencies to provide high-quality pastoral support. You will be responsible for promoting positive behaviour, improving attendance, safeguarding vulnerable students and helping to create a safe and supportive learning environment where every young person can succeed.

Key responsibilities

  • Providing pastoral support to students across a designated year group or key stage.
  • Building positive relationships with students, parents/carers and staff.
  • Supporting students with attendance, behaviour and wellbeing concerns.
  • Working with families and external agencies to address barriers to learning.
  • Promoting high standards of behaviour, inclusion and student engagement.
  • Supporting students through transitions, challenges and personal development.

The Successful Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience working with young people, preferably within a school, college, youth work, social care or similar setting.
  • Understands the challenges facing young people in secondary education.
  • Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Can remain calm, resilient and professional when dealing with challenging situations.
  • Has strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
