Overview

The Council is seeking to recruit a Senior Legal Officer to specialise in non-contentious law to work within its Legal and Democratic Services section. You must be an admitted Solicitor or a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives or working toward qualification. You should have sound knowledge and experience of dealing with property, contract and planning matters. You will be required to provide high level legal advice to both Officers and Elected Members.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high level legal advice to Officers and Elected Members on non-contentious matters.
  • Undertake conveyancing transactions and provide advice on property related matters, including drafting and amending commercial and other contracts.
  • Provide advice on planning matters, including drafting section 106 agreements.
  • Attend meetings of the Council’s Planning Committee and Licensing and Appeal Sub-Committee, when necessary.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Admitted Solicitor or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives or working toward qualification.
  • Sound knowledge and experience of property, contract and planning matters.
  • Ability to provide high level legal advice to Officers and Elected Members.
