Job Description
The Security Officer is responsible for delivering a professional security service that protects people, property, and assets in line with assignment instructions and customer requirements. As a Security Officer you will help maintain a safe environment through effective patrols, monitoring, incident reporting, and excellent customer service. An SIA licence is required, and you will be expected to uphold the core values of Integrity, Vigilance, and Helpfulness.
Responsibilities
- Prevent unauthorised access, monitor alarms/CCTV.
- Conduct regular internal and external patrols.
- Manage traffic, parking, keys, and locking/unlocking duties.
- Carry out routine equipment checks and maintain records/logbooks.
- Issue visitor passes and manage site equipment per procedures.
- Handle lost property in line with instructions.
- Support staff, visitors, and contractors to ensure site safety.
- Follow and enforce health and safety procedures, reporting hazards and incidents.
- Keep emergency routes clear at all times.
- Report use and shortages of first-aid supplies.
- Notify security operations centre in emergencies and follow instructions.
- Investigate all fire alarm activations.
Qualifications
- SIA Licence (essential)
- Right to work in the UK.
- First Aid qualification.
- Over 18, five-year checkable work history or valid documentation for gaps.
- No criminal convictions.
- Good communication skills and customer focus, ability to work independently and in a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and flexible with shifts (days, nights, weekends).
- Full UK driving licence and own transport desirable.
- Previous experience in a security or gatehouse role (preferred).
- Must be a 5-year UK resident, UK national – able to pass and obtain an SC clearance.
