We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and flexible individual to join the ROCC Management team based in the Regional Operational Coordinating Centre (ROCC) at Middlebrook, Manchester for a six month secondment.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for monitoring Acute Trusts across the region, liaising with Bed Management & Emergency Department teams in Hospitals; Managing RHCD coordinators, speaking with all NWAS Commanders and Managers and maintaining the duty ROCC log produced within the ROCC.

You will also be required to monitor the crew handover process and respond immediately to any capacity issues or delays in transfer of care from NWAS to provider clinician.

The function is a key point of contact for NHS England, SCC’s, Public Health England and Department of Health, NWAS Managers and Commanders, NACC and other Ambulance trusts.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Job responsibilities

Please note this role involves shift work, and the rota cover includes evening, weekend and night work. The majority of shifts will be 11.5hrs in duration.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Comprehensive and thorough working knowledge of NWAS operational policies & procedures Managerial experience with the ability to deal with all staffing issues.
  • Experience of risk assessment and emergency planning in an operational setting, giving understanding of: o Emergency preparedness and contingency planning o Training exercises o Risk assessment
  • Dealing with varying levels of staff within the Wider Health Economy during times of increased demand/pressure.
