Job Overview

We are hiring Centre Managers and Assistant Centre Managers for our summer schools in Salford (Manchester) and Portsmouth. The weekly rate for Centre Managers is £1,209 and for Assistant Centre Managers £1,149. Full board accommodation & meals are provided throughout the contract.

Responsibilities

The Centre Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the summer school (except for the academic programme delivery, which is the responsibility of the Director of Studies).

  • Line managing and supporting a team of sports & activities leaders.
  • Line managing the Welfare Officer(s).
  • Holding daily briefings with staff.
  • Liaising with Head Office and enacting the planned activities programme schedule & excursions.
  • Being the point of contact for agents and group leaders vis‑à‑vis complaints and queries regarding the activities programme.
  • Managing facilities and resources at the site.

Programme Schedule

All: Saturday 20 June to Saturday 27 June: Management training, preparation & staff induction.

Salford

Sunday 28 June to Sunday 9 August.

Portsmouth

Sunday 28 June to Sunday 26 July.

Activities Programme

The activities programme runs from 09:00 to 22:00 every day of the week. We offer a range of activities to meet the interests of international teenagers. The Centre Manager is directly responsible for implementing the activities programme, which is designed and communicated to them by Head Office.

  • Sports: Dodgeball, Badminton, Basketball, Table Tennis, Football, Volleyball, Swimming, etc.
  • Arts & Crafts: Clay modelling, Jewellery making, Mosaic tile‑coasters, Rock painting, Tie‑dye T‑shirts, etc.
  • Premium Venues: Laser Quest, Bowling, Adventure Golf, Aquarium, Etihad Stadium, Spinnaker Tower.
  • Local Excursions: Libraries, Galleries, Museums, Beaches & parks.
  • Games & Events: Baking, Karaoke, Discos, Card games, Board games, Bingo, Quizzes, Dance, Yoga.

Conditions of Employment

  • Centre Managers are contracted to work for 48 hours per week (average). Any extra hours will be paid as overtime at the end of contract.
  • Centre Managers are assisted by an Assistant Centre Manager, who works in opposing shifts and assumes their authority when the Centre Manager is absent.
  • The Centre Manager reports directly to the Head of Junior Summer Schools and Groups, in Head Office.

About You: Must haves

  • Aged 18+ and have the right to work in the UK.
  • No criminal convictions that indicate unsuitability to work with children.
  • Able to start work on Saturday 20 June 2026.
  • Able to work through to the end of the summer period.

About You: Preferred

  • Previous experience in team management.
  • Experience of working with teenagers.
  • Previously worked at a summer school.
