Overview
Keep aircraft crews safe where it matters most. As a Survival Equipment Technician at RAF Valley, near Holyhead, you will support fast jet pilot training by ensuring critical survival and aircrew equipment is maintained to the highest standards, directly impacting flight safety, operational readiness and mission success.
Role
This is a hands‑on, highly responsible role where you will develop specialist skills within a collaborative team while contributing to a function essential to aviation safety and national defence.
Responsibilities
- Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on aircrew and survival equipment
- Ensure all work meets regulatory, safety and quality standards
- Inspect, test and certify equipment for operational use
- Support continuous improvement in team performance and compliance
- Work collaboratively to deliver outputs safely and on time
Essential Experience
- Previous experience in survival or life support equipment maintenance
- Working effectively within a small, close‑knit team
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
- High levels of personal responsibility and adaptability
- Knowledge of military engineering standards or equivalent procedures
Qualifications
- Formal engineering training (RAF Trade Group 13 or equivalent)
- Trade authorisations such as QSEAC or AVMEDSE
- Experience in aircrew equipment fitting or specialist systems (desirable)
Medical Requirements
Successful candidates will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
