Job Summary

NHS Grampian has one post available for the position of Switchboard Operator to handle calls and respond to requests in the busy central switchboard at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, as part of the ICT Services, Customer Services team. This part‑time post is for 25 hours per week, working Monday to Friday from 1 pm to 6 pm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use a computerised switchboard to handle calls and respond to queries from internal and external callers.
  • Respond to pager requests and emergency calls, and monitor alarms.
  • Provide advice and support to NHS employees and the public.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of call activity.

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Good keyboard/typing skills and ability to work independently.
  • Strong organisational and listening skills, with a flexible approach to working.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and handle challenge.
  • Knowledge of NHS Grampian is an advantage.

Training

Full training will be provided to the successful applicant.
