The Role
Salary – £28,142 to £31,022 pay award pending, plus overtime
The Waste and Recycling Service is looking to appoint 2x Refuse Drivers to join the team!
Working across a range of waste streams (residual, recycling and green waste) you will be expected to safely operate a range of waste collection vehicles, continuously improve collection round efficiency and drive performance.
Working as part of a team, you will deliver waste collection services to householders across the borough. You will also promote and encourage environmentally responsible behaviour and help to improve participation in recycling activities to increase the borough’s recycling rate and reduce litter on our streets.
About You
Refuse Drivers are the cornerstone of our operations.
You will be professional, organized and meticulous in your approach. You will be task focussed and motivated to get the job done.
You must be happy to work in all weathers, have a high level of physical fitness, and be able to move heavy loads with minimal supervision.
As you will be working in the community, a high level of customer care combined with the ability to influence recycling behaviours is essential. You must be able to communicate with colleagues, team members and members of the public.
Previous experience is desirable, and you will be expected to follow instructions and work to strict deadlines. A flexible approach to working hours (from 5:00 am) is essential as operations commence early in the morning and involve working on Bank Holidays.
A minimum of 12 months LGV experience is required.
