Permanent | £56,000 | Hybrid — 2 days a week in the office in Central London

This is a newly created role for someone who can help shape how data is owned, managed and used across an organisation.

The focus is not just governance on paper. They need someone who can bring structure, improve data quality and get stakeholders bought into better ways of working.

Key responsibilities

  • Help build and embed a practical data governance framework
  • Develop clear policies, standards and guidance around data management
  • Support governance forums and help drive accountability across the business
  • Define what good data quality looks like and put measures in place to track it
  • Work with data owners and stewards to identify, investigate and resolve data issues
  • Support data classification, documentation, data dictionaries and lineage
  • Improve data literacy through training, guidance and stakeholder engagement
  • Monitor progress, highlight gaps and report on the impact of governance activity
  • Make sure ownership of data sits with the right people across the organisation

Qualifications

  • Experience in data governance, information management, data quality or data protection
  • Good understanding of data governance frameworks and best practice
  • Knowledge of UK GDPR and wider data protection requirements
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, especially with non-technical teams
  • Confident influencing, challenging and bringing people with you
  • Experience supporting change or improving business adoption
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to make data governance practical
  • Good project management skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams
  • Social housing, public sector or regulated sector experience would be a bonus
  • Relevant data, information governance or data protection qualifications would be useful
