Claims Executive – Corporate & Commercial
Howden, the new name for Aston Lark, is building a global collective of talented people. We support clients through the complex landscape of commercial risk, crafting bespoke solutions to help businesses navigate uncertainty and grow. This role is a full-time, permanent position; you will ideally be onsite in our Midlands region for 2/3 days per week on average.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end claims process regardless of size, including larger, complex or contentious claims arising with brokerage clients from investigation, evaluation, negotiation to settlement
- Utilise knowledge of insurance policies, coverage types, and claims procedures to assess and adjudicate claims within timelines and guidelines
- Collaborate with internal departments, external vendors and other stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient resolution
- Analyse claims data, identify trends and develop strategies to mitigate risk and improve claims management processes
- Provide leadership, guidance and mentoring to the Claims Handler and junior team members
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, insurers, loss adjusters/assessors and industry partners to enhance customer satisfaction
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes and emerging technologies
- Prepare and present reports and presentations with key performance indicators
- Visit clients during a loss to investigate circumstances and build a robust claim for a swift, favourable conclusion
- Negotiate with insurers to obtain favourable settlement terms within policy terms
- Act as an advocate for the claims function and settlements
Knowledge
- Strong understanding of insurance policies, coverage types and claims procedures (essential)
- Brokerage experience (essential)
- Understanding of general and legal principles of insurance
- Understanding of relevant regulatory and legal frameworks

Qualifications
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
- A levels (desirable)
- BDMA certificate – British Damage Management Associate
