Salary: From £31,000 per annum (pro rata 20 hours per week based on full-time salary range £31,000 – £38,000)

Role Overview

We are looking for a compassionate, skilled, and motivated Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Therapist to join our dedicated team within our children’s learning disability home. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs.

Typical Work Activities

  • Conduct functional behaviour assessments and develop evidence-based Positive Behaviour Support plans.
  • Support children and young people to achieve positive outcomes through proactive, person-centred interventions.
  • Coach, mentor, and train residential staff in PBS principles and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Monitor, review, and evaluate behaviour support strategies, adapting plans where required.
  • Work collaboratively with families, education providers, healthcare professionals, and local authorities.
  • Promote least restrictive practice and ensure interventions uphold children’s rights, dignity, and wellbeing.
  • Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping and compliance with relevant legislation and best practice guidance.

About You

  • A relevant professional qualification in Psychology, Behaviour Analysis, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Nursing, or another related field.
  • Experience working with children or young people with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of Positive Behaviour Support.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to analyse behaviour and develop effective, person-centred interventions.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable

  • Experience within residential children’s services.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience delivering staff training.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body.
