Location: The Loyne Specialist School, Sefton Drive, Lancaster, Lancashire, LA1 2PZ. The school is a special needs all-through school (ages 4‑19) and has been rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted. The post is part‑time, term‑time only (08:30‑15:45) and will be based across the age range in the school.
Overview
Due to internal promotion and expansion, we are seeking an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to work in partnership with the class teacher. The successful candidate will help plan, develop and support lesson delivery, support behaviour management, and participate in professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, develop and support the delivery of lessons in liaison with the class teacher.
- Assist in running and monitoring classroom activities, supporting learners with SEND.
- Support behaviour management and implement school policies and ethos.
- Take part in ongoing professional development and improve teaching practice.
- Act as a role model for learners, young adults and colleagues.
Essential Qualifications
- GCSE grade C (minimum) or equivalent in English and Mathematics.
Desirable Qualifications
- NVQ level 3 or above qualification (or willingness to work toward one).
Essential Experience
- Experience working with children and/or adults with SEND.
- Experience working in a classroom or similar environment.
Desirable Experience
- Experience managing others.
