Overview
The role oversees the performance of the business acceptance function in line with the Firm’s new business acceptance policies, practices and controls. It involves working closely with the Conflicts and Financial Crime teams, ensuring service levels are met, and coordinating with Risk & Compliance and Business Operations to drive process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Manage resourcing and work allocation in the business acceptance team to ensure timely delivery of service to the Firm.
- Directly allocate work to team members based on capacity and development needs when required.
- Collaborate with Risk & Compliance, Business Operations and subject matter experts to drive operational innovation and improvements to new business acceptance processes and procedures.
- Act as a trusted advisor to fee earners and Business Operations on operational and new business intake processes.
- Escalate issues within the team on new business intake requests as needed.
- Serve as a key stakeholder in the continuous improvement and management of Intapp, coordinating with a group of experts to ensure the system remains effective and efficient.
- Work with the People team to maintain rigorous lateral recruitment processes across the MDR Group.
- Partner with Risk & Compliance and our Academy to ensure effective training is delivered within the business acceptance teams and supports learning across the firm.
- Contribute to risk and compliance work with the business to maintain best practice and oversee regulation related to the efficient running of the Firm.
- Operate in a fast-paced environment with a focus on attention to detail and delivering excellent service to internal stakeholders and clients.
Qualifications
- Substantial prior experience in new business intake, including financial crime and conflicts experience in a law firm compliance function.
- Significant experience with Intapp.
- Experience in new business intake design projects is desirable.
- A legal qualification is not required; however, significant law firm compliance experience is necessary.
- Strong people management skills with a proven track record of building and leading a high-performing compliance team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage a range of stakeholders in a commercial and confident manner.
- High standards of legal rigour delivered with care in a professional and pleasant manner.
- Diligent record-keeping and strong team collaboration, with an agile and supportive approach.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities to meet demanding internal client requirements and competing priorities.
- Efficient, proactive and resilient, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and manage a diverse workload.
- Flexible and adaptable, able to work in close collaboration with the General Counsel Team and other departments.
- Strong overall interpersonal and communication skills.
