Overview

Controls Engineer (Factory/Airport Automation) – Leicester

Salary: £55,000 – £60,000 + in-house training + career progression + annual discretionary bonus + site travel

Responsibilities

• Write, test, and program PLCs from scratch for automation systems (predominantly Siemens, Omron, and Allen-Bradley).
• Work with PLCs, HMIs, drives, and robots across automation projects.
• Involve in early-stage project work, input to tenders, and writing functional design specifications; follow through in software build, in-house testing, on-site commissioning, handover and go-live support.
• Be the technical go-to for customer issues and support the full lifecycle of automation projects.
• Collaborate in a mixed office and site-based environment.

The Person / Qualifications

• Controls Engineer who can write and program PLCs from scratch.
• Experience with Siemens, Omron, and Allen-Bradley PLCs; HMI, drives, and robots.
• Looking for a varied role in a specialist team; commutable to Leicester.
