Overview
Acting Team Leader vacancy at Outwood, a specialist residential service supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, complex needs and behaviours of concern in Horsforth, Leeds. The role is a dual position combining responsibilities as both a Support Worker and an Acting Team Leader. You will work full time (42 hours per week) on 12-hour shifts, including alternate weekends, on a two-week rolling rota. Shifts will include a mix of direct care and leadership duties to support the effective operation of the service.
Responsibilities
- Acting Team Leader
- Provide oversight, administration, and management of medication in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and allocate duties to ensure the service operates efficiently and effectively.
- Lead, motivate, and support the staff team, championing best practice and a person-centred approach.
- Assist management and colleagues with the daily running of the service.
- Monitor and oversee support delivery to reflect individuals’ needs, preferences, and aspirations.
- Promote a positive, safe, and supportive environment for service users and staff.

- Provide high-quality, flexible, and individualised care to enhance the lives of the people supported.
- Offer practical, emotional, and motivational support to encourage independence and wellbeing.
- Develop an understanding of each individual’s needs and provide support accordingly.
- Assist with medical, health, and welfare needs, ensuring accurate reporting and record keeping.
- Promote safeguarding principles and protect the welfare of all individuals in our care.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
- Support individuals to access and participate in the local community, including employment, education, hobbies, social activities, holidays, and day trips.
- Encourage personal growth and skill development through involvement in everyday tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and household management.

Salary and benefits
- Acting Team Leader rate: £15.39 per hour for all acting team leader shifts
- Support Worker rate: £13.15 per hour, rising to £13.45 after three months (approx. £29,435.70 first year)
