The role

As a Supply Chain Development Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing and developing supply chain strategies that support major bids and programmes. Working at the forefront of business‑winning activity, you’ll help identify the best supplier solutions, influence key stakeholders, and ensure robust procurement approaches are in place from bid phase through to delivery.

This is an exciting opportunity to directly impact how we secure and deliver critical defence capabilities, while enhancing your commercial, procurement, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Day‑to‑day, you’ll be required to:

  • Supporting the development of procurement and supply chain content for customer proposals and tenders
  • Engaging with suppliers to gather, assess and evaluate responses for pricing and capability
  • Contributing to bid reviews, presentations, and internal governance processes
  • Building strong supplier relationships to enable effective collaboration during bid phases
  • Capturing lessons learned from bids to improve future supply chain strategies.

This is a full‑time role with 37 hours per week, and hybrid working patterns are available, with two days onsite.

Essential experience

  • Demonstrating strong stakeholder management, relationship‑building, and influencing skills
  • Applying commercial insight with the ability to unlock value within supply chains
  • Managing negotiations and resolving complex commercial challenges effectively
  • Showing a proactive, delivery‑focused approach with strong personal drive
  • Working with procurement strategies and processes to achieve business goals.

Qualifications

  • Professional qualification in procurement and supply chain management (such as CIPS) or equivalent experience
  • Solid understanding of procurement tools, techniques, and best practices
  • Experience of public and private sector procurement
  • Knowledge of business winning and bid processes
  • Proven track record in commercial negotiation, including contract terms and conditions.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
