SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location: Bristol

Salary: £93‑£105 per day

Contract Type: Full‑Time, Long‑Term Opportunities Available

About the Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom. Working alongside teachers and pastoral teams, you will help create a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment where students can thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Providing one‑to‑one and small group support to students.
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behavioural challenges.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with young people.
  • Encouraging engagement with learning and classroom activities.
  • Assisting teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management.
  • Supporting students during break times, transitions, and intervention sessions.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and wellbeing throughout the school day.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Have experience working with children or young people, particularly those with additional needs.
  • Are patient, resilient, and able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Have strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Can demonstrate empathy and a genuine desire to support vulnerable learners.
  • Are confident working as part of a team.
  • Have an interest in behaviour support, mental health, or special educational needs.
