Coherent Corp – Junior Buyer (Fixed Term 15 Months) – Scotland

Our Scottish site is a key centre for laser and ultrafast laser technology, specialising in the development, manufacture, and lifecycle support of advanced laser systems for demanding industrial and scientific applications.
Responsibilities
- Support the team in running daily MRP reports and raising purchase orders.
- Assist with the management of purchase requisitions, supplier quotations and order tracking.
- Monitor stock levels and highlight potential shortages to senior team members.
- Track deliveries and update internal systems with order status.
- Coordinate materials for production and engineering teams.
- Assist with basic supplier communication (e.g., order confirmations, delivery updates).
- Maintain accurate data within procurement systems (ERP/MRP).
- Prepare supplier performance reports.
- Update supplier records and quote tables.
- Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, QA) to resolve basic supply issues.
- Provide general support to Buyers and Strategic Sourcing Managers as needed.
Qualifications
- Some experience or exposure to purchasing, supply chain, or logistics (placement, internship or entry‑level role).
- Basic understanding of MRP/ERP systems (training will be provided).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Eagerness to learn and develop within a procurement environment.
- Ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines with guidance from the team.
