Job Description:

A position exists for several Research Assistants in the Cambridge Critical Materials Lab (CCML), Department of Engineering, to work on critical mineral supply chains and machine learning as part of the Climate Compatible Growth (CCG) programme, funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). This aims to research sustainable energy and transport systems and critical mineral supply chains to meet development priorities in the Global South. The post holder will be in Central Cambridge, UK. This is a full‑time position offered on an initial fixed‑term contract basis for up to six months, and the funding will last until 31 March 2027, whichever comes first.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree level (1st or high 2:1 equivalent) in engineering from a top university
  • Knowledge and experience in investigating critical mineral value chains, network systems analysis, machine learning techniques
  • Using Python to create code
  • Using GitHub to collaborate and organise code
  • Exceptional writing skills across different contexts (research, media and policy)
  • Interpersonal collaborative skills

Salary

Research Assistant: £33,002 – £35,608
