Overview

Fixed term one year contract for Locum Consultant in Obstetrics with a Special Interest in Maternal Medicine. Location: Newham University Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust. Contract: Fixed term / Full Time (10 PAs).

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care in general obstetrics and maternal medicine, including management of high-risk pregnancies and pre-existing medical conditions.
• Develop and implement clinical pathways, policies, and procedures related to maternal medicine and obstetrics.
• Participate in teaching, mentoring, and supporting junior doctors and medical students.
• Lead on research initiatives in maternal medicine and obstetrics.
• Contribute to the development of a patient-centred service and participate in continuous service improvement.
• Travel between up to three Trust sites as required and work across sites within acceptable working conditions.
• Support staff, patients, and families in challenging or emotive situations and work effectively under pressure to deliver safe care.

Working pattern and conditions

• Location: Newham University Hospital; Contract: Full time (10 PAs).
• Role may involve light exertion, keyboard use, and lifting/pushing in line with moving and handling regulations.

Requirements

• Consultant Obstetrician with a special interest in maternal medicine; experience in high-risk obstetrics and maternal medicine.
• Ability to teach, mentor, and participate in research initiatives.
• Ability to travel between Trust sites and to work under pressure while managing emotionally challenging situations.
