The Successful Candidate Will Have
- Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Children’s Residential Care/Children’s Workforce (essential)
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (preferred), or willingness to enrol within six months of starting
- Minimum 2 years’ experience within children’s residential care
- At least 1 year’s management or supervisory experience within the last five years
- Strong understanding of Ofsted Quality Standards, SCCIF, safeguarding and children’s residential care legislation
- Experience supporting children and young people with learning difficulties, mental health needs and behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD)
- Proven leadership, organisational and people management skills
- Experience managing budgets, staffing and operational performance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Child-focused approach with a commitment to achieving outstanding outcomes
- Full UK Driving Licence
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead the day‑to‑day management of a 5‑bed children’s residential home
- Ensure the home consistently delivers high‑quality, child‑centred care and achieves a minimum Ofsted rating of ‘Good’, with ‘Outstanding’ as the ongoing objective
- Develop, implement and review comprehensive care plans tailored to each young person’s individual needs
- Recruit, develop and retain a skilled and motivated staff team
- Allocate and oversee key worker responsibilities, ensuring care plans are effectively delivered
- Promote children’s participation and ensure their voices influence the care they receive
- Maintain compliance with safeguarding legislation, Ofsted regulations and Quality Standards
- Effectively manage complaints, safeguarding concerns and child protection matters
- Build positive working relationships with families, local authorities and external professionals
- Attend and contribute to care planning meetings, reviews and multi‑agency meetings
- Manage budgets, resources and the commercial performance of the home
- Foster a positive, safe and nurturing environment where children can achieve their full potential
