About the role

As one of our Installation Specialists based in one of our Customer Delivery Hubs, you will bring our distinctive John Lewis service to customers’ doors and install products they love into their homes (such as furniture, kitchen appliances, sound systems and TV sets) as part of a 2-person delivery crew, driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle. This role requires you to be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

  • Be an ambassador for the John Lewis brand with excellent customer service as your top priority.
  • Load the lorry with the day’s deliveries, working with the warehouse team.
  • Show respect and courtesy for the customer’s home and manage unexpected situations to find the best solution for customers.
  • Install products efficiently and demonstrate how they work after installation.
  • Stay up to date with new products and technologies to perform at your best.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Note: This role involves heavy lifting and delivering large items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds and mattresses.

Essential skills and experience

  • Previous installation experience; we will assist with our installer accreditation.
  • Manual C1 UK driving licence (maximum 6 points).
  • Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) or Driver Qualification Card by first day.
  • Tachograph Card.
  • Previous experience driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills both over the phone and in person.
  • Good understanding of technology.

Desirable skills and experience

  • Installation and disconnection of white goods.
  • TV installation.
  • Assembly of flat-pack furniture.

Hours: 41 hours per week, working across 4 days on a 5 week rota: Monday to Saturday 06:00-17:00.
