Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality learning programmes that inspire learners and meet their individual needs, embedding into the curriculum English, maths, ICT, safeguarding, Prevent, British values, equality, diversity and health and well-being.
- Undertake initial and diagnostic assessments to inform planning and delivery of teaching, learning and assessment.
- Set challenging, SMART targets within individual learning plans and conduct regular, documented reviews with learners, providing progress, achievement and constructive feedback.
- Ensure learners complete an effective induction that enables them to articulate key issues and report concerns to appropriate parties when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records, including attendance, schemes of work, individual learning plans, evidence of achievement and end‑of‑course reviews.
- Provide high‑quality IAG throughout the learning journey and actively monitor, track and support learners’ employability needs.
- Prepare learners for examinations, assist in the internal quality assurance process and implement examination procedures, including invigilation, marking and portfolio assessment.
- Ensure qualifications and RARPA arrangements meet learner and awarding body requirements.
- Participate in annual reviews, set and review performance targets, engage in one‑to‑ones and undertake continuing professional development.
- Support the enrolment process, marketing and liaison with the community, schools and relevant organisations.
- Promote and role‑model a culture supporting the Council’s Equality and Diversity policies, creating a positive environment.
- Comply with Health and Safety, information security (including GDPR), ICT policies and general data management protocols.
Qualifications and Experience
- Level 3 qualification in Preparing to Teach within the Lifelong Learning sector (PTTLS) required; evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
- Significant experience delivering accredited and non‑accredited programmes in adult education, with a focus on English, maths, ICT, safeguarding, Prevent, British values, equality, diversity and health and well‑being.
- Strong background in working with multicultural, community‑based adult learning settings and developing partnerships with different agencies.
- Experience teaching adult programmes, supporting learners in completing forms, collecting fees and checking eligibility criteria.
- Knowledge of the common inspection framework and its application to teaching, learning and assessment; knowledge of relevant curriculum areas and accreditation.
- Good communication, listening and interpersonal skills to engage learners and partners, and ability to motivate and enable learners to achieve personal goals.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, methodical approach to tasks, with the ability to work independently and flexibly (including evenings and weekends).
- Understanding of equality of opportunity, diversity and practical application within programme planning and delivery.
- Knowledge of health and safety policies related to buildings and service delivery.
- Information, advice and guidance qualification desirable.
- Diploma in teaching of adults in the further education sector (DTTLS level 5) or equivalent; degree in a specific subject area desirable.
- English and Maths Level 2 or above.
- ICT qualification such as ECDL or equivalent desirable.
