Teaching Assistant Level 2 & Higher Level Teaching Assistant – PE Instructor
Contract Type: Permanent.
Actual Salary: £16,423.57 to £17,073.98
Hours: 15 hours as a Teaching Assistant (D3 to D4) and 12.50 hours as a HLTA (G8 to G12), working 39 weeks per year. These hours are inclusive of an afternoon of PPA time for the sport leader.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and versatile individual to join our small Church of England primary school in a combined role of Teaching Assistant and PE Instructor. The role will involve supporting teaching and learning in the classroom from 9:00am to 12:00pm, followed by delivering high-quality PE lessons and physical activities from 1:00pm to 3:30pm. Responsibilities
- Be enthusiastic, approachable and friendly, ensuring all children feel safe, happy and able to learn.
- Create a purposeful, orderly and supportive learning environment.
- Support the team, including teachers, in management of pupil behaviour and tackle challenging behaviour in children with respect and understanding, following the school’s Behaviour Policy.
- Support the ethos of a Church and Trust school.
- Build supportive and respectful relationships with children while maintaining confidentiality and following the school’s Code of Conduct.
- Prepare to undertake appropriate CPD to develop skills, including First Aid training and annual Safeguarding / Child Protection training.
- Understand the importance of Child Protection and commit to safeguarding children’s welfare—both at home and in school.
- Experience as a HLTA or as a PE lead would be desirable.
