An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Street Scene Manager to come and join a busy client in the South Yorkshire area. The role is an initial 6 month contract and is paying between £30-35ph (inside IR35).
Responsibilities and Qualifications
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of Street Scene services, including street cleansing and grounds maintenance, ensuring service standards and SLAs are achieved.
- Supervise and coordinate frontline operational teams, setting performance expectations, monitoring productivity, and addressing performance issues.
- Lead, motivate, coach, and develop staff while managing attendance, performance, and employee wellbeing.
- Coordinate and deploy staff, vehicles, equipment, and other resources to maximise operational efficiency.
- Plan and manage daily and weekly work programmes, adapting resources to meet changing service priorities.
- Monitor operational performance and implement improvements to enhance productivity, efficiency, and service quality.
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, health and safety regulations, and organisational policies.
- Carry out site inspections and safety checks to ensure safe working practices and regulatory compliance.
- Manage operational budgets, monitor expenditure, and support cost-effective service delivery.
- Assist with budget forecasting and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and deliver value for money.
- Respond to customer enquiries, complaints, and service requests in a professional and timely manner.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including community groups, contractors, elected members, and internal departments.
- Maintain accurate operational records using digital systems for scheduling, reporting, and performance monitoring.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery and operational performance.
- Demonstrate proven experience in Street Scene operations, including grounds maintenance, street cleansing, and environmental services.
- Apply a strong understanding of operational service standards, health and safety legislation, and regulatory compliance.
- Interpret and implement operational plans, schedules, and service requirements effectively.
- Demonstrate strong organisational, planning, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and work under pressure.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff, managers, stakeholders, contractors, and members of the public.
- Deliver a customer‑focused service with a commitment to high standards, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
