We are looking to appoint a Family Support Worker on a full-time basis (35 hours, 5 days per week) to deliver high‑quality family support services to families in the London & South East area where a child or young person has a life‑threatening or terminal illness.
Responsibilities
- Provide people‑centred emotional, social and practical support to families based on their needs.
- Maintain and manage your own schedule, remaining flexible to the families on your caseload.
- Support fundraising teams by writing case studies and family updates.
- Collaborate with health, education and social care professionals, sharing information in line with data protection and child protection guidelines.
- Ensure accurate and timely use of IT, including MS Office, to record and report service provision.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience as a child health, education or social care professional, preferably in a community setting.
- Recognised qualification in education, health or social care.
- Informed about child protection, information sharing and data protection rules.
- People‑oriented, confident user of IT, and able to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong, open communicator with the ability to build supportive relationships.
- Understanding of grief, loss and change, including bereavement support.
- Practical knowledge of diversity issues affecting children, young people and their families.
Requirements
- Full current driver’s licence to accommodate team and family needs.
- Enhanced DBS disclosure.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary of £24,000.
- Company car (taxable benefit in kind £6,000–£8,000).
