EdEx are exclusively working with the leading secondary school in WestLondon (Hammersmith & Fulham) to find x6 Teaching Assistants for September 2026 starts. The school has been in the top 1% nationally for attainment and progress. These positions are full‑time vacancies, employed directly by the school on a permanent contract. Initially a 1-year contract, with scope to go onto teacher training in year 2 if interested. The “actual” salary for these Teaching Assistant vacancies is £27,181 per annum (FTE equivalent £30,331).

What will you do as a Teaching Assistant?

  • To inspire students with a greater passion and depth of understanding in your specialist subject
  • To support students to develop habits of academic excellence during their time as Sixth Formers and at university or elsewhere
  • To ensure students are developing the literacy, numeracy, communication and oracy skills to thrive at university and beyond
  • To provide pastoral support to develop confident, resilient young people
  • Working one‑to‑one or in small groups with students to develop their subject understanding and boost attainment
  • Planning and delivering sessions relating to academic literacy to support students with skills such as time management and study skills
  • Working with students applying to the best universities in the world, especially Oxford and Cambridge, as well as those struggling with their academic workload
  • Working with academic and pastoral staff to identify a target group of students that would benefit from academic support and developing personalised plans of action that enables effective and measurable academic progress
  • To provide support across your subject specialism in order to:
  • Understand students’ academic needs
  • Support teaching staff in developing techniques that enable academically vulnerable students to learn effectively
  • Pick up revision strategies, study skills, essay writing techniques and other subject specific guidance to continually give our students targeted support
  • To work alongside the SENDCO team and Deputy Head (Pastoral) to identify and screen any students who present signs or symptoms of a special educational need.

Who makes an exceptional Teaching Assistant?

  • An academically gifted graduate from a Russell Group University, including achieving a 1 st Class or 2:1 Classification at undergraduate level
  • Strong academics across A-Levels and GCSEs – A*-B’s desirable, but not essential
  • A graduate with ambition, drive and resilience to push students to show they’re capable of more than they imagine – sounds cliché, but it’s imperative
  • An interest in gaining hands‑on experience in a world‑leading educational institute, with ambition to train to teach or work within education, social policy etc
  • Resilient, hard‑working, ambitious – want to be around like‑minded people!
  • Able to inspire and motivate students
  • Caring, humble and intensely passionate about making a difference in today’s world
  • Experience tutoring, mentoring students / young people is ideal – this can be professional or personal experience
  • Happy to take on some small class teaching responsibilities once induction period is successfully completed
