EMC EngineerExceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.Do you want to work at the forefront of EMC engineering, supporting the development and qualification of next-generation defence systems?At Leonardo, we have an exciting opportunity for an EMC Engineer to join our Radar and Advanced Targeting line of business in Edinburgh. This role offers hands-on involvement across development and qualification programmes, working closely with experienced engineers in a UKAS accredited EMC test facility.As an EMC Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting EMC activities across the full product lifecycle, from early design through to formal qualification testing.What you will do as an EMC Engineer:Work in a team of Engineers to develop EMC modelling and analysis capability.Provide EMC support and technical input to project teams, supported by modelling analysis and test.Support EMC engineering activities aligned to defence and aviation standards such as MIL-STD-461, DO-160, DEF-STAN 59-411 and EFA EMC specifications.Contribute to EMC testing, covering a wide range of radiated and conducted emissions and susceptibility test types. These include radiated susceptibility tests with field strengths not commonly seen in the commercial environment and defence specific conducted transient tests simulating NEMP events.Support early lifecycle pre-compliance activities through to formal product qualification EMC testing.Assist with the preparation, execution and reporting of EMC tests within a UKAS accredited EMC facility.Contribute to continuous improvement activities within the EMC facility, including test methods, processes and automation where appropriate.You will bring a solid technical foundation and an interest in developing your EMC capability within a complex engineering environment. Training or experience in circuit simulation in packages such as LTSPICE, Simetrix etc.Ideally experience in electromagnetic modelling software, however skills transferrable from electronic and mechanical design packages e.g. Altium and Solidworks will be considered.Ability to perform electronic circuit analysis using e.g. Understanding of EMC requirements and their application to complex electronic systems.EMC design principles and good engineering practice.Experience in supporting or conducting EMC testing in line with military or aerospace standards.Supporting product certification activities and formal design or performance reviews.Security ClearanceWe offer a comprehensive, company-funded benefits package that supports your wellbeing, career development, and work–life balance.
