We are seeking an experienced and passionate Assistant Headteacher to help drive our mission of Turning Children’s Lives Around. This is an exciting opportunity to support the Headteacher in leading a nurturing, trauma‑informed specialist school based in Bristol.

About Sky Vale School

Sky Vale School is a specialist setting for children and young people aged 6–18, many of whom have experienced trauma and benefit from a relational, therapeutic approach to education.

About the Role

As Assistant Headteacher, you will play a key role in both the strategic leadership and day‑to‑day management of the school.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Headteacher in leading the school and driving improvement
  • Championing and embedding the school’s vision, values, and trauma‑informed approach
  • Leading key whole‑school areas of responsibility, in line with your expertise
  • Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver outstanding outcomes for young people
  • Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, learning, and staff performance

You will also be part of a wider network of Senior Leaders across Five Rivers’ Ofsted‑registered schools, offering collaboration, support, and shared best practice.

Who We’re Looking For

We are keen to hear from candidates who have:

  • A strong interest in SEND and trauma‑informed education
  • Leadership experience in a specialist or mainstream school setting
  • A genuine passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable children and young people
  • The ability to inspire, motivate, and support both staff and pupils

This is full time role covering 37.5 hours per week, term time inline with the local authority.
