Social Emotional Support Worker

About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and proactive Social Emotional Support Worker to join our team in Crawley. This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people who may experience social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges, helping them to build confidence, resilience, and positive relationships.
Working closely with education professionals, families, and external agencies, you will provide tailored support that enables individuals to overcome barriers to learning and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group social and emotional support.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
- Support the development of emotional regulation, social skills, and self-esteem.
- Implement individual support plans and behaviour strategies.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, carers, and external professionals.
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate records of interventions and outcomes.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
- Encourage independence, wellbeing, and positive engagement in learning and daily activities.
About You
- Have experience supporting children, young people, or vulnerable individuals.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be patient, empathetic, and resilient in challenging situations.
- Understand social, emotional, and mental health needs and their impact on learning and behaviour.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Hold relevant qualifications in education, health and social care, psychology, counselling, or a related field (desirable but not essential).
- Have a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
