Elevation Recruitment Group is working with a leading specialist engineering organisation in the nuclear and defence sectors to find a Graduate Systems Engineer to join their Stafford-based team.
This is a rare entry point into a highly specialised field, with structured development, mentorship from experienced engineers, and the chance to work on projects that genuinely matter.
The Role
You’ll be supported from day one as you get to grips with control system software design across a range of complex, safety-critical client projects. Working with PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems, you’ll develop your technical skills across the full project lifecycle – from initial requirements and design through to build, testing, installation, and commissioning.
This isn’t a background role. You’ll take real ownership of your work, contribute to technical documentation, liaise with clients, and be an active part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
What We’re Looking For
- A degree (minimum 2:1) in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Control Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- A genuine interest in control systems, automation, or software engineering
- Any exposure to PLC, SCADA, or HMI — whether through university, placement, or personal projects — is a real advantage
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Eligibility for SC security clearance — you must be a UK citizen and have lived in the UK for the last 5 years with no criminal convictions
