EYFS Teacher Peterborough

About the role

Justteachers are proud to be supporting a welcoming and well established Primary school in Peterborough, who are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic EYFS Teacher to cover maternity leave on a full time basis, from September until February.

This school offers a nurturing and engaging early years environment where children are encouraged to explore, develop confidence, and build strong foundations for future learning. The EYFS team works closely together to provide consistent routines, high-quality provision, and a positive start to school life, supported by a well-organised and approachable leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, play based EYFS provision aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework
• Support children’s development in communication, language, early reading, and number skills
• Deliver structured and engaging phonics sessions in line with the school’s chosen scheme
• Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment
• Observe, assess, and record pupil progress using EYFS assessment tools
• Support pupils’ personal, social, and emotional development
• Work closely with teaching assistants and the EYFS team to provide consistent provision
• Communicate effectively with parents and carers as required

Pre-requisites

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised qualification
• Proven experience teaching within EYFS
• A strong understanding of the EYFS framework and early childhood development
• Phonics teaching experience (preferred/ideal)
• The ability to plan engaging, age appropriate learning activities
• Strong classroom organisation and a nurturing teaching approach
• Two recent references
